Change: A Transformation
Teacher: What is the best way to boil a frog?
Student: Why, put a live frog in boiling water, Right?
Teacher: Ohh my god..! The frog is likely to jump out of the boiling water.
Student: Then, the othe way to do it is to put the frog in moderately warm water
and than very slowly turn on the temperature.
Teacher: What will happen than?
Student: The frog will do nothing to resist the change in temperature.
It slowly get used to the heat and end up as a boiled frog dish!
This is a cruel but a true description of the process of change. Most of the changes that happen in real life do not take place as sudden events like droping a frog inside boiling water. Life is a constant process of gradual change. If we anticipate change quickly enough, we jump out of the boiling pan like a smart frog. If we become insensitive to change, we end up as a good dish for the worms!
Mastery of change is in fact the challenge of moving human attention from an old state to a new state. The real crisis of our times is the crisis if attention. Transformation is nothing but a shift in attention from one from to another.
Gandhiji said be the change you want to see in the world.
